Burning Sheep
The US has Burning Man, we have to make do with Burning Sheep. Given that there are estimated to be over 40 million sheep in New Zealand (ten times the people), maybe it’s better named.

On the outskirts of Wellington each year, Burning Sheep comes along. A chance for a little of a beach party with a sheep effigy.

Has been running for a few years, yesterdays one was the first where have had the chance to go along. Not really sure who started it, but spawned by staff at Weta Digital (http://www.wetadigital.com/) a few year ago as a chance to have a fun night, a beach party and to let off some left over fireworks from Guy Fawkes.
Makes for a fun night and now some pretty impressive fireworks.
